Barcelona 2 Chelsea FC 2
3 November 2006The return leg of the much awaited clash between the “True Blues” of Stamford Bridge and the Catalan giants in Nou Camp lived up to its billing as “The One To Watch!!!”
The number of yellow cards dished was into double figures. Even the media and supporters got into a frenzy thinking that Cole has picked up a 2nd yellow card when the first was meant for Lampard who misses the next game.
Lampard also scored an incredible goal from an almost impossible angle with Gudjohnson equalising after Ronaldihno has made a rare fantastic run.
Drogba who showed his passion and different sides yet in a Chelsea shirt was involved in lots of jostling and shoving and capped awonderful evening with a fantastic goal in injury time.
Goalkeeping Tragedy
15 October 2006Chelsea lost two of its goalkeepers to injuries yesterday in its premiership match against Reading. First it was Petr Chec our first choice goalkeeper who got stretchered off after an injury he received in the very first minute of the game and in the dying minutes of injury time,…………
we also lost his replacement Cudicini. it was the injury to cudicini which looked worse but Petr Chec has since undergone surgery for a fracture to his skull which threathens his professional career as a footballer. We wish these two goalkeepers prompt recovery
Peter Osgood - Goodbye to a Chelsea Great
3 October 2006The greatest honour a club can bestow on a Player was conferred on Peter Osgood on Sunday Oct 1 with his ashes buried under the penalty spot.
It had started with the Chelsea Pensioners forming a guard of honour and the Coldstream Guards providing the music as Ossie entered the arena in his traditional way, behind captain Ron Harris and goalkeeper Peter Bonetti, but for this last time carried in a blue urn by widow Lynn with two of his sons, Anthony and Darren.
Chelsea FC 1 - Aston Villa 1
1 October 2006
Chelsea dropped points at home for the first time this season at Stamford Bridge with Aston Villa running away with a 1-1 score draw.
Aston Villa came into the game only wanting a draw but I’m sure would have been glad to bag all three points as hinted by Martin O’Neil. Juan Pablo Angel could have scored rather than hit the side netting. Though he conceded that it would have been harsh on Chelsea.

Levski Sofia’s big night
26 September 2006Chelsea FC goes into the Champions League away fixture with Levski Sofia needing all three points at stake.
It is very important for Chelsea FC to come out of this tie with maximum points before going into the double header with Barcelona.
John Terry is included in the squad although Joe Cole who is still recuperating from his injury has been left out!

Charlton again
9 September 2006Chelsea play Charlton Athletic at Stamford Bridge today and we want to wipe the smiles off the players, coaching crew and fans of Charlton Athletic. We want to drive a spear through their collective hearts and hand them a very resounding defeat which will send shivers down the spine of any other so called rival in the premiership.
You may wonder why all this ill feelings towards Charlton…. well last season, they where the only team that came away with a point from the fortress at Stamford Bridge and to make matters worse, they did it twice; once in the premiership the second time was in the Carling Cup.
Jose the master tactician is aware of this and will make sure that they will be smitten the third time around
Chelsea FC’s Gallas Statement
4 September 2006Chelsea Football Club has the following statement on William Gallas to explain the circumstances behind his departure. These include his refusal to play for the team, and if selected, a threat to score an own goal.
The statement says:
Chelsea FC believes it is important for our supporters to be made aware of the full facts regarding William Gallas and the lack of respect he showed to the fans, the manager and the club.
Despite leaving he continues to attack José Mourinho and this cannot be left unchallenged.
Chelsea made William Gallas a very substantial and attractive new contract offer to stay towards the end of last season. This was rejected.
The issue was purely one of money, despite his public comments that he wanted a new challenge, to play abroad and so forth. These were just a smokescreen to cover up the fact he was hawking himself to the highest bidder.
Having failed to secure his demands, his position became increasingly intransigent and unacceptable.
He initially refused to play against Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final last season in an effort to force an increased contract offer.
As is now well documented he refused to join up with the team in Los Angeles during pre-season, despite agreeing the dates for his return as the other World Cup players did, with the club.
When José Mourinho generously offered him a way back into the “family” after the American tour, this was thrown back in the Chelsea manager’s face.
The manager told him that, even if he did not agree a new contract but returned to the “family” and abided by the rules, he would still select the best players available and would not punish him playing wise.
However despite meetings to try and resolve the problems Gallas made it clear to José Mourinho he would never play for Chelsea again.
Before the first game of the season against Manchester City, when only four defenders were available and John Terry was doubtful with an injury, he refused to play.
He went on to threaten that if he was forced to play, or if he was disciplined and financially punished for his breach of the rules, that he could score an own goal or get himself sent off, or make deliberate mistakes.
Clearly this was a totally unacceptable situation for the manager, the team and the club.
Chelsea’s interests had to be protected and a solution was collectively agreed. If a satisfactory deal for Chelsea could be found, Gallas would be sold. If that did not happen it was agreed by all that Gallas would have to fulfil the terms of his contract.
Chelsea has a wage structure in place that is valued not only on the contribution of the player to the manager and the team, but also on a player’s respect for the club and contribution to the promotion and image of the club off the field. Every player is expected to play their part in this.
William Gallas rarely recognised these responsibilities. He also failed to recognise the role José Mourinho and Chelsea played in helping him become a double Premiership champion for a player whose only league title prior to that had been in the French Second Division.
Ashley Cole has landed!
1 September 2006Finally we have a man who is willing to play for us, a true professional. One who is willing to speak his mind without being offensive.
