Peter Osgood - Goodbye to a Chelsea Great

3 October 2006

The greatest honour a club can bestow on a Player was conferred on Peter Osgood on Sunday Oct 1 with his ashes buried under the penalty spot.

This was followed by the unveiling of a plaque in his honour behind the goal on the shed end by Captain John Terry and Osgood’s Captain Ron Harris.

It had started with the Chelsea Pensioners forming a guard of honour and the Coldstream Guards providing the music as Ossie entered the arena in his traditional way, behind captain Ron Harris and goalkeeper Peter Bonetti, but for this last time carried in a blue urn by widow Lynn with two of his sons, Anthony and Darren.
